New Generation Flood Protection

The launch of the Flumina 2040 Workshops, the design-led project for the future of Irish rivers, has begun. Initiated by REDscape, in collaboration with various Dutch firms and organized by the OPW in Dublin Castle, the workshop was attended by County Councils from across Ireland. The discourse was refreshing and optimistic. Presentations from Palmbout Urban Design, Dingeman Deijs, Van Paridon de Groot, and REDscape were followed by an open debate, focusing on Dutch and Irish flood protection approaches. Breakout sessions were actively engaged in, outlining new concepts and possibilities for Irish rivers, discussing ideas, and generating new regional insights and opportunities. The findings of this exciting project will be presented later this year.
