The design brief asks for spatial integration for the expansion of the factory that does justice to the cultural-historical value of the Beemster polder and its unique status as UNESCO heritage. To make this step, CONO Kaasmakers asked REDscape Landscape & Urbanism to implement a landscape fitting-in vision to formulate the landscape effects, opportunities for expansion of the extension, and design guidelines in the field of such an extension.
The design proposes to give the industrial park a number of characteristics of the country in order to realize a one-off and special project. It is not the intention to compare this new design with a country estate. In fact, it does not have to be an outdoor place. The concept proposes to develop an (industrial) terrain for a single company that is special and inspired by the design of the outdoor areas and the landscape of the Beemster polder.
The landscape shell remains the spatial carrier of the complex and forms part of the architectural composition of the industrial estate as a whole. The architects are asked to respond to this. The natural hull must remain guaranteed in all its aspects. This means that all designated green destinations (carré, assen and voorgebied) remain free of all other destinations such as buildings, pavement, parking, technical areas and installations for now and in the future.
