Protection against the rivers
- Year, status: 2015
REDscape led a team of Dutch design offices including Palmbout Urban Landscapes, Van Paridon De Groot and Dingemann Deijs architects, to carry out an extensive study into a new generation of flood protection for Irish rivers. Over 200 locations were examined and several case studies were worked out to demonstrate the design approach in concrete terms. The holistic design approach works from a regional perspective and focuses on achieving multiple benefits to flood management and design that improves the spatial and amenity quality of Irish rivers. This project was made possible with support from the Creative Industries Fund. This exciting project was carried out with the support of the Department of the Environment, The Office of Public Works, and several city departments, including Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council and Cork City Council. The results of this project are to be published for public use.
